A Dog Barking at the Moon

Directed by Lisa Zi Xiang, this is my first feature film as a producer and as a director of photography. Selected at the 69th edition of Berlinale for the Panorama section, it won the Teddy Award Special Jury Prize, as well as the Best Narrative Film in Toronto InsideOut Film Festival, Best Feature Film at Seoul Women Film Festival and around 30 selections worldwide.

This is “my baby”, my first feature film as a director, that I also photographed and edited. It is minimalist, highly narrative, shot with amazing actors on “negative space”, and with a lot of post-production (with no AI whatsoever). I filmed it with a RED in 5K, edited the footage, and after a first color correction, exported the whole film in JPEG (80 thousand frames). Then I applied filters specifically designed to each frame through a “script sequence” (nothing to do with a cinema “script” or a “sequence”).

A weird one, yet the love for your baby is always unconditional.
